Campaign to End Chronic Pain in Women
Everyone will Benefit
The TMJA acknowledges that TMJ disorders not only affect women, but men as well. Although our Campaign to End Chronic Pain in Women focuses on women, we believe that the outcome of our efforts will benefit everyone suffering from TMJ disorders. We are proud to be part of this campaign which has united several non-profit patient advocacy organizations all working toward the same goal: to get the word out about TMJ disorders and help everyone in pain.

TMJ Disorders in Men
Since we've launched our campaign we've heard from a number of men who have voiced their concerns about the campaign's focus on women. We recently posted a blog on our website, Men Suffer Too, that shares a man's perspective of living with TMJ disorders.  Just last week, we spoke with another gentleman who is going through a divorce because his wife cannot cope with his chronic pain and need for medication to function. He informed us that he feels alone and would like to be connected with other men with TMJ disorders.  If you or someone you know would like us to connect you with men suffering from TMJ disorders, please let us know.

We Want a Congressional Hearing on Chronic Pain
A congressional hearing would be a major step forward in raising awareness among leaders in Congress, federal agencies, and the public of the need to expand federal research on conditions such as TMJ disorders.

Please take just 5 minutes to email your Representative urging him/her to sign on to this important letter. Be an activist and take action!

National Institutes of Health Office of Research on Women's Health (ORWH) Celebrates 20th Anniversary

On September 27th, the ORWH celebrated their 20th Anniversary with a scientific symposium interspersed with rousing and inspiring presentations from a number of the founding "mothers" and a few fathers. Senator Barbara Mikulski brought the audience to their feet with a barn burner of a speech. (Watch the video, you'll love it!)  To view her talk click here to view the symposium video and scroll to the 187:50 minutes on the bar under the video.

If you live in Maryland contact her office and tell her how much you appreciate her years of support for women's health issues and educate her about TMJ disorders.
